I have to start off by saying that when I showed up to photograph the gorgeous H family, I had to pick my jaw up off the floor before I could pick up my camera. It’s a photographer’s dream. Light poured in from every single direction in this home, which made it much easier to concentrate less on my settings and more on capturing their connections. The session started a lot like many others: the kids showing me around, the family playing, snuggling, and making each other laugh, and then an impromptu game of tag between this stunning mom and her spirited little boy. But then as the kids began to lose a bit of energy, Mom noticed the time and said, “Oh my, we need to get lunch together!” and off to the kitchen she went tying on her apron. That’s when the kids figured that we were done with the photos and an entirely new session began. I got to see how close these guys are and how wonderful of a team they make together. Mom handed off a clove of garlic to her son, who peeled it with ease from his perch atop the counter. Hilarious Dad grabbed bread and set the table quickly while his wonderful parents entertained their adorable little girl. I loved spending this time with them catching the warmth and love that exists in this house. They’re all so much on the same page -from knowing how to make each other laugh to knowing how to collectively give the most stoic of faces for a family portrait. I’m so glad to have met you all and can’t wait to see you again – with and without my camera! xo
