I’ve said it before, I love my sessions like I love my kids. But this one – this one felt like coming home. I used to live next door to this amazing family, but we haven’t seen each other in what feels like both a hundred years and yesterday all at the same time. It’s actually been almost three years since we’ve seen each other, but I felt like I knew these boys like I’d seen them every day. They were both exactly the same and everything I had imagined they would become. Sweet and sarcastic, smart and hilarious, with the perfect blend of brotherly roughness and tenderness all at once. Each one of them uniquely and specifically different, and I could have stayed there all day documenting their lives.
Their parents, Dan and Erin, are incredibly special to our family. Having been the veteran parents on the block when we first had our kids, my husband and I still measure our movements against them and often wonder to each other when things get a bit hectic, “What would Dan and Erin do?” The answer is usually walk outside and eat popsicles on the back porch while waiting for the storm to pass, as we saw them do one night. There is no end to the regard in which both I and my husband hold these amazing parents, and I was so thankful to be able to capture their lives as they are now with their incredible boys. And through all the chaos and noise that comes from having three boys, these parents live and love with such enormity and are so full of laughter and joy.
Thank you so much for meeting me at the lake. I can’t wait to see you all again!
